The Milestii Mici factory of high-quality wines sold its products worth
9 million lei in Moldova in 2007 – three times as much as in 2006.
Milestii
Mici Director General Mihai Maciuca told Infotag that in 2007 the
winery exported its products to the USA, Germany, and France and is
negotiating with Swedish partners. The winery’s products are also known
at the Japanese market.
Maciuca said that last year 22 thousand tourists visited the Milestii Mici underground galleries.
“The
interest to wine depositories exceeds the supply, that is why, we have
launched a big investment program, which will allow us to receive a
considerably bigger number of local and foreign tourists. This year we
shall arrange wine tasting halls, covering more than 3.5 thousand
square meters, we shall renovate equipment and furniture. The project
cost is valued at 10-12 million lei (more than $1 million). We also
intend to lay down new vineyards. We are working out at developing new
wines, including a wine, made from grapes, collected late autumn after
the first frosts. It will be an excellent wine for fine consumers”, the
Director said.
The Milestii Mici winery produces and stores
elite wines and vintages. It possesses one of the largest underground
wine depositories in Moldova. Wines are stored and matured in the
galleries. Wines, produced by the enterprise, won more than 70 medals
at various international and regional contests. The winery is the
winner of a state prize for quality, of the Trademark-2007 national
